Ray McKinney

Ray is an experienced consultant with over 20 years of pharmaceutical industry experience. 

Since founding Chemera Consulting LLC in 2006, Ray has worked on delivering creative solutions which reduce operating costs while strengthening compliance.

His academic credentials include an MBA from Columbia Business School and a B.Eng (hons) in Mechanical Engineering from Strathclyde University (UK).  Additional certifications in Lean Six Sigma (Black Belt) and various programming languages have been acquired along the way.

Recent assignments have focused on helping pharmaceutical and medical device firms reduce operating costs.  This work has supported research operations as well as manufacturing.  Specialist expertise in change management- in particular eliminating redundant steps and automating document generation: He believes that "highly skilled staff should spend their time on technical problems- not word processing".

Ray started his career as in maintenance management for ICI/Zeneca in the UK and then moved to the USA as a project engineering for Heinkel Filtering Systems, Inc. working on the optimization of filtering centrifuges.  He was promoted to General Manager (UK), President & CEO (USA), and served on the parent company advisory board.

This blend of senior management experience combines well with a passion for technology.  Interpreting financial data and being able to anticipate senior management concerns while being grounded in how the plant floor really operates have all been key to his success as a consultant.
